Description
The Regular-sized Oha (also known as Ofe Ora) is a traditional Igbo delicacy from Southeast Nigeria, celebrated for its unique, earthy aroma and smooth texture. It is prepared using fresh Oha leaves, which are traditionally shredded by hand rather than with a knife to prevent bitterness. The soup is thickened naturally with boiled and pounded cocoyam (ede) or achi, giving it a rich, silky consistency. This regular portion is cooked in a vibrant palm oil base and seasoned with traditional ingredients like ogiri (fermented oil bean), crayfish, and yellow peppers. It is typically loaded with assorted “obstacles,” including seasoned beef, stockfish, dried fish, and cow skin (kpomo).
